According to the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), the new moon is expected to be born on February 28, 2025, at 5:45 PM Pakistan Standard Time. However, astronomical data suggest that the moon's visibility on this evening is unlikely. Consequently, the first day of Ramadan is anticipated to fall on March 2, 2025.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, led by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, will assess moon sighting reports from across the country during their meeting. Zonal committees in various regions will also convene to collect and relay local observations. The final decision regarding the start of Ramadan will be based on these collective reports.

The government’s initiative to hold the central meeting in Peshawar underscores efforts to ensure a synchronized observance of Ramadan throughout Pakistan. This move aims to foster national unity and reduce regional disparities in the commencement of the holy month.
